It was the year 1999 in Dade County; Miami, Florida to be exact. Pure funk DJs have the block jumping as Poison Clan ordered you to Shake Whatcha Mama Gave Ya. Finger waves stacked at the top of your head and a pair of bamboo earrings are what you need to be considered flyy. Pac Jam and Eighteenth Avenue are the places to be on Saturday night. Amid the nineties, a nostalgic love was hard to come by but once you found it, you had no choice but to hold on to it. Killa Cam was forced into a life that he had no intention of being involved in. When his uncle got knocked, he had no choice but to do what he had to do to survive. When everyone he loves seems to fall victim to the same streets of Dade County, he has to make a choice. When he unintentionally meets the beautiful and free-spirited Ryan Woods, he’s forced to open his eyes and see the bigger picture outside of Dade County. Will he allow the treacherous streets of Dade County to take him down or will he finally put himself first? After losing her mother in the one place she called home, Ryan Woods learns that it doesn’t matter how much you love home, home will not always love you back. It doesn’t take Ryan long to learn that she’s gone from living life, to just existing, and no matter how hard she tries, she struggles to get back to living and enjoying life. The grimy streets of Dade County have a hold on her and serve as a daily reminder of what could happen when you get too comfortable. Ryan’s dream has always been to move away and start over, but fear of losing everything she once loved keeps her held in the one place she despises. All of that changes when she meets Killa Cam. Ryan finds herself ready to make the moves she’s always feared making, and Cam finds himself wanting things he never knew he needed. Is love enough for the both of them to finally let go of the fear holding them back, or are they better off leaving things the way they are?
