Dave, Julie, and their friends at the Farm are trying to rebuild their lives, enjoy some simple family pleasures, and let their guard down ever so slightly. The action picks up as they discover it might be too soon for that. When our heroes are called upon to once again save the dwindling population of the town of Tazewell from invaders, they discover that promises made to the most vulnerable among them are not being kept. The townies learn the harshest of lessons and are bluntly reminded that their days of consumerism and welfare are over. They’re told, “If you wanna eat, you gotta work; and you’d better decide to stand up for yourselves because relying on the generosity of the Farm to feed you and defend you just ended.” This is another emotionally charged, faith-based story by David Saylor, depicting a mostly Christian community trying to do right as the world crumbles around them.
