Heather Lambert is a single mom raising her seven-year-old daugher, Jenna with the help of her parents. She's managed to finish her marketing degree and works as head of marketing for Lambert Farms. Jenna's father moves back to town and says he's ready to be a part of Jenna's life. He realizes how much time he's lost with Jenna and regrets his earlier immaturity. It was easier to send a child support check every month instead of trying to build a relationship with his daughter. Jason sets out to woo Heather and convince her he's ready to be a father now. But then right before Christmas, a possible job offer comes up, one that would take him away—again.
