This novel is part of Shelley's fiction quartet based on the life of Singaporean Eurasians. Although Shelley Shelley started writing late in life he speedily picked up literary awards for his works. This novel, which won the Singapore Literary Prize, is set in the post World War II era where the protagonist is an informer for the British on the communist underground movement and then becomes involved in an exciting and tempestuous romance.
