"But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams. 'He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven' is a famous poem by William Butler Yeats first published in 1899, within his third volume of poetry, 'The Wind Among the Reeds' (1899). The work contains the famous line "Tread softly because you tread on my dreams", which has long since embedded itself in the public conscience. The poem was also popularized by its use in the films 'Equilibrium' (2002), '84 Charing Cross Road' (1987) and the Korean film 'Dasepo Naughty Girls' (2006). W.B. Yeats (1865–1939) was an Irish poet and dramatist, and one of the foremost figures of 20th century literature. He was a driving force behind the Irish Literary Revival, and helped found the Abbey Theatre. In 1923 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, being the first Irishman so honored. Yeats is generally considered one of the few writers who completed their greatest works after being awarded the Nobel Prize; with such works including 'The Tower' (1928) and 'The Winding Stair and Other Poems' (1929).
