The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem… Briar’s not like other Faeries. She doesn’t do the whole dancing in the woods, singing with the trees, and switching out babies in the middle of the night thing. Instead, she prefers heavy metal, oversized hoodies, and slumming it with the humans. She joined the Against the Grain therapy group with the purpose of overcoming her abnormalities. Instead, the group helps her realize that being different might not be such a bad thing as she’d been taught to believe. Corvin’s not like other Demons. He doesn’t enjoy bargaining for souls, lurking in shadows, or basking in the fires of Hell. Instead, he prefers to snuggle up in his favorite Hello Kitty blanket and watch a Hallmark movie. When he first joined Against the Grain, he thought he’d found the solution to controlling his unDemon-like behaviors. But with some guidance, he discovers that a little glitter doesn’t make him any less of a Demon. Both are so different and have no reason to spend time together. But with a serial killer hunting Fae and souls deteriorating at an abnormal rate, Briar and Corvin team up in order to solve the murders. Together, they uncover more than clues to a mystery. They discover that even two outcasts can find a home together. A Demon’s Guide to Pursuing a Prickly Faerie is a romantic comedy with a dash of horror. There will be scenes of a Demon hoarding an unhealthy amount of shiny, useless objects, a Faerie with a black thumb, and a sacrificial pig who thinks he’s a human. There will be certain descriptions which could be disturbing or upsetting to some readers. This includes descriptions of a cult meeting, ghosts, dead bodies, and violence. If you have a queasy stomach, read with caution. Against the Grain is a shared world trilogy full of awkward characters, hilarious meet-cutes, and hard-fought happily ever afters. Each book in this urban fantasy rom-com can be read as a standalone.
