You never know when the storm will hit. Two years ago, former actress Tish Yearly was fired, robbed, and evicted all the same day and washed up on the doorstep of her grandfather Tobias Yearly—a former test pilot, CIA agent, and all around trouble-maker. A few murder cases later, Tish is the owner of an events venue on Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands and Tobias is the oldest licensed private investigator in Washington State. But when Hollywood knocks on her door, Tish finds she can't quite let go of the movie-making dream and becomes a producer to what could be a blockbuster film. However, having persuaded a bevy of Hollywood insiders to film a movie on Orcas Island, persuaded her boyfriend that she's not leaving him to be a star, and persuaded Matt Jones—the islands most reputable drug dealer—to help bank roll the film, Tish Yearly has a lot riding on her being able to steer the movie into safe waters. But when the director turns up dead, Tish can see a storm is about to hit and now Tish and Tobias are racing against the clock to solve the case before the movie folds or Tish ends up in jail for a murder she didn't commit.
