Dutch historian, senator and writer on terrorism. In 2004 she promoted on her thesis about the relationship of Dutch churches with the German Democratic Republic. In 2007 she co-founded the Centre for Terrorism and Counterterrorism of the University of Leiden. In 2015 she was on the candidate's list for the Senate for the social-christian ChristenUnie party.
