Nick O'Flannigan, a freelance photographer on a one-year assignment to capture photos of every state capitol building, arrives in Bismarck with the real intention of not getting involved in another mystery. But at a traditional cattle drive the night before he arrived, a young man dies during a popular branding iron tossing game. Something looks off to Nick though: what appears to be an accident feels a lot like murder. Will the one thing he notices turn out to be right? Or is the clue something that leads nowhere?
