Summer 1940, the defence of a nation depends on just a few young pilots. After invading and occupying half of mainland Europe, Adolf Hitler set his sights on the British Isles. Although the Royal Navy and the British Army were ready to fight, the first line of defence was the Royal Air Force and the men of Fighter Command. ‘Call Sign Panther’ tells the story of the Battle of Britain as seen through the eyes of a young pilot, Jack Sommers. Arriving at RAF North Weald he must quickly learn the art of aerial combat and adjust to the complications of squadron life. As the threat of invasion hangs over the country the pressure on Sommers and his comrades intensifies. As Winston Churchill said ‘Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.’
