As a television reporter and double amputee, Odelle is used to having to prove herself. But fighting against the physical incarnation of evil for the fate of the world certainly raises the stakes. When a magical, ancient crown surfaces in Chicago, Odelle joins forces with the Eteria, a secret society of immortal sorcerers from the Greek empire, to keep it from falling into the clutches of the evil Shadow. Odelle’s sister, Nora, has been fighting alongside the Eteria as a Warrior, but Odelle has avoided the sorcerers after one of their number hurt her pride by rejecting her romantic advances. However, Antony the Smith, the very sorcerer who spurned her despite his gentle disposition, is the one she’s stuck with. As the Shadow threatens the city she loves, Odelle is determined to show that she can contribute to the fight, despite her inability to use the magical Light. When she sets out to prove to Antony he was wrong to reject her, and to herself that she has a place in this magical new world, the hunt for the crown heats up. If Odelle and Antony can’t set aside their need to prove themselves and work together, the Shadow will gain the power to engulf all they love.

I've been reading fantasy novels since I was a little girl stealing books from my older sister’s shelves, and that has developed into a love of writing and storytelling. My writing is currently focused on fantasy and paranormal romance. When I'm not sitting in a local coffee shop writing and consuming an iced americano, I am a nurse working towards a PhD in nursing with a focus on breast cancer genetics. Though born and raised in the Chicago area, I live in Pittsburgh with my loving husband and our two cats, who enjoy contributing to my work by walking across my keyboard at inopportune moments (the cats, not the husband).
