Charles Brockett lives in Atlanta where he is co-founder of UniversalTable/Wising Up Press, whose mission is promoting an appreciation of difference, of "finding the we in them, the us in you." He has co-edited a number of its anthologies on a variety of contemporary issues, such as immigration and acculturation and pluralism in families. He recently retired from teaching political science, for many years at Sewanee: The University of the South and before that at what is now the University of Massachusetts at North Dartmouth. The author of two well-received books on Central America and numerous social science journal articles, he is a recipient of several Fulbright and National Endowment for the Humanities awards. His PhD is from UNC-Chapel Hill. He has travelled and lived widely throughout Latin America, for the longest periods in Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Brazil, and Argentina.
