From Christmas in the City II Hunter Ashton would like nothing more than to change his last name and ditch all of the responsibilities that were attached to it. There hasn’t been a time when he wasn’t being groomed for something or being told what was expected of him. Saying no to his parents – particularly his mother – wasn’t an option. At least…not a smart one. Now, at age thirty, he was expected to settle down with the right woman and start producing offspring that would start the cycle all over again. Life has never been easy for Lexi Hayes. Two steps forward, one back has been her lifelong mantra. Even after she’d been given so many opportunities – like a scholarship to one of the most esteemed private schools in the city – she just can’t seem to get ahead. All of her old classmates had gone on to work for their family businesses or married well – and within their social class. But Lexi wasn’t so lucky. Her family business was staying one step ahead of the bill collectors and doing their best to make it to pay day. When a second chance at love presents itself, Hunter and Lexi will have to decide if they are willing to let their different circumstances keep them apart or if, this time, they’ll take a chance on love.
