Some characters are meant to be revisited… Cai and Rand’s story was told in Vampire’s Soul, a standalone in the Vampire Queen series. But as is often the case with my characters, they snuck back into my head, asking for a revisit. In this vignette, they are meeting with Lady Lyssa, head of the Vampire Council, over the holidays. Cai uncharacteristically decides to get into the holiday spirit…and go to a mall. And nothing worth doing is done without his servant Rand at his side. Cai has to have someone to annoy, after all.
