COFFIN FOR A HOODThe two hired killers arrive by plane to the little coastal town of Arroyos in the Florida Keys. But why? Could they be here to settle an old debt with Socks Schroeder, the basketball jock who didn’t throw the game and turned state’s evidence instead? Or did Helen’s ex hire them to kill her new husband, Nick? Or possibly they were here for Doc Martins, to settle an old score? Or for Deputy Flack, who used to run with the mob before he’d killed a rival and was forced to hide out. Richard Fullbright is sure they’re after him, hired by his ex-partners after they found out he’d swindled them. All they know is that two professionals are in town, and they must be here for a reason. While just offshore, Hurricane Bettina is ready to strike… OPERATION—MURDERTina marries Frank so quickly, she really doesn’t know much about him. She meets him in the hospital where she is a nurse, and he a patient. But now she is on a bus headed toward Twin Valley to join him so that they can finally celebrate their honeymoon in a lodge up in the Rockies. When she gets there, there’s no Frank. Joe the Indian is there to meet her instead. And when she gets to the lodge, nothing seems right. Tina discovers she will be sharing the lodge not only with Joe, but with two other men she doesn’t know. Because Frank has a plan, and a belated honeymoon is only a small part of it. He intends to rob the Denver mint train. And nothing Tina can do is going to stop him.

Lionel White
Author · 9 books

Lionel White was a crime reporter who wrote around 38 suspenseful thrillers beginning with The Snatchers in 1953 and ending with The Walled Yard in 1978. Most of his books were translated into a number of different languages and his earlier novels were published as Gold Medal pulp hard-boiled crime fiction, but when Duttons began a line of mystery and suspense books, he also wrote for them. He was most well known for what a New York Times review described as "the master of the big caper." A number of his books were made into movies and Stanley Kubrick liked his book 'Clean Break' (1955) so much that he licensed the rights for his film "The Killing" in 1956. In Quentin Tarantino's film "Reservoir Dogs", Lionel White is listed as an inspiration for the film in the credits. Gerry Wolstenholme May 2011
