Kill the Father

'The rock cast a sharp, dark shadow over a shape huddled on the ground. Please don’t let it be the boy, Colomba thought. Her silent prayer didn’t go unanswered. The corpse belonged to the mother.' THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN STOP HIM IS THE ONE WHO GOT AWAY... Dante Torre spent eleven young years in captivity - held by a man known only as The Father - before outwitting his abductor. Now working for the police force, Torre's methods are unorthodox but his brilliance is clear. When a young child goes missing in similar circumstances in Rome, Torre must confront the demons of his past to attempt to solve the case. Paired with Deputy Captain Colomba Caselli, a fierce, warrior-like detective still reeling from having survived a bloody catastrophe, all evidence suggests The Father is active after being dormant for decades, and that he’s looking forward to a reunion with Dante...

From the internationally bestselling author of Kill the Father — “a stunningly original page-turner that twists the concept of psychological thriller in a terrifying and wonderful way” (Jonathan Kellerman) — comes the second Caselli and Torre novel, a high-voltage ride into the bizarre as the detective duo tracks a lethal villain on a quest for revenge. When a high-speed train from Milan draws into the station in Rome with a carriage full of dead bodies, Deputy Police Commissioner Colomba Caselli, a fierce detective still reeling from having survived a bloody catastrophe of her own, is called to lead the investigation. After receiving a message claiming responsibility for the killings and announcing more murders to come, officers turn their attention to a small group of Islamic extremists. But Dante Torre believes authorities are being misdirected. For him the Islamic link is a smokescreen concealing the actions of a killer who has been committing murders all over the world for years: a woman who calls herself Gilitinè, after the mythological Lithuanian goddess of death. After further carnage, Gilitinè’s murderous plans escalate to macabre heights, and only Dante and Colomba can stop her.

From internationally bestselling author Sandrone Dazieri comes the thrilling conclusion to the “unrelentingly suspenseful” (Booklist, starred review) Caselli and Torre trilogy in which two damaged but deductively brilliant detectives must sort out what is real and what is imagined. Detective Colomba Caselli is reeling from a deadly bombing in Venice and her investigative partner Dante’s disappearance, and retreats to the rural countryside outside Rome to nurse her wounds. When an apparently autistic teenager appears in her yard, covered in blood, he leads her to a brutal crime scene where nothing is what it seems. As Colomba gets pulled into the investigation and the body count continues to grow, she is implicated in the violence. She is convinced that a powerful villain is working in the shadows to cause the carnage and frame her, but the only person who can help her is Dante—and he hasn’t been seen in over a year and is presumed dead. Colomba is sure he’s alive and out there somewhere, but will she find him before it’s too late? And can she clear her name and be free of the far-reaching legacy of the villain known as the Father... Bursting with action, ingeniously plotted, and filled with one unexpected twist after another, Kill the King is a shocking and satisfying conclusion to this breathtakingly original crime series.
