Harriet is an underpaid seamstresses in one of Boston’s French couture stores. She and her best friend, Juliana, long to excel and be appreciated for their work. They decide to become mail-order brides and head west, but Harriet finds that her honesty about her lame leg doesn’t work in her favor. Men immediately lose interest in her. So when Juliana finds a man, she insists on taking Harriet west with her. Juliana’s groom, a struggling rancher named Parker, has a good friend, Michael, and Harriet is instantly attracted to him.
