A group of friends on a boat tour outside the boundaries of Tsushima, Japan, get taken for a nightmare ride in a tempest of fierce demonic winds, dumped on an island that doesn't exist, then emerge into a world they don't recognize. With their boat broken, and nowhere to go, no help to call, their minds are tortured nightly by the phantoms of the past. But not all phantoms are misty shadows and harmless things. Some have form and haunt the sea, and haven't tasted blood in a long, long time.
