I used to be the most popular girl in my New York City private school, and I had the dreams and the talent to make it as a professional ballerina. I had everything going for me, but then, my parents lost their minds and decided to move us a thousand miles away to homestead off-grid in Montana. Soon after arriving to my exile from upscale fashion boutiques and classical theater, I was forced to have an ankle surgery, putting a stop to all my dreams of being a professional ballerina. Worse yet, my dad didn’t even seem to care since he was too busy taking care of my mom who was having another mental breakdown. As I was stuck in the sticks with no one to talk to, I finally made friends with my neighbor, Fulton. Fulton was the biggest dork at my old school, but once I was forced to spend time with him, I learned he wasn’t so bad—actually he ended up being the friend I needed. Just when I really started to trust Fulton, a new wound was opened when he found a way to move back to New York. However, I won’t let that stop me. I’m determined to get a one-way ticket back to the city and I’m still holding on to the hope that my old city-girl life, and my former boy next door will be waiting for me.
