While Dr. Victoria Kensling and her boyfriend, Kent MacDonald, are playing golf with their friend, Dan Sheffield, the former editor of the local paper, they are interrupted by a sheriff’s deputy who wishes to take Sheffield in for questioning. Sheffield’s former boss, publisher Edna Lackett, has been found murdered.
