DUI is a comic by Tara Booth published and printed by Colorama in 2019. DUI is the story of how artist Tara Booth was able to use the impetus of a DUI charge followed by a traumatic night in a women’s detention center in order to get sober. The comic illustrates the sequence of events in raw emotion and witty humor, shedding light on the importance of transparency and self-forgiveness in the process to becoming sober. The illustrations in this comic are in both color and black and white and showcase Tara Booth’s humorous attention to detail and playful rendering of figures. Tara Booth is a comics artist from Philadelphia. Colorama is a risograph printing studio and publishing house based in Berlin, run by Johanna Maierski since 2015. Their publications feature works of contemporary comics artists and ongoing research into the means of bookmaking and storytelling. Colorama publications are presented at art book and comic book fairs worldwide.
