Assassination is never easy. Corah has spent years working for Gervis Dern, a lesser governor of Spectre, doing his bidding, building his trust, all in preparation for the day when she gets the order she has been waiting end him. With the planet finally freed from the tyrannical rule of Korvath at and end, and his daughter Vashia on the throne, surely that day is coming soon. Then a man arrives on a slave ship, large in body and purple in hue. Corah and Dern both recognize this man, who calls himself Mofitan, is no ordinary slave. In fact, not a slave at all, but a prince of Shroud, who claims he is seeking revenge against the new ruler’s husband to cover his true mission. Dern tasks Corah with finding out if Mofitan can be trusted. But Corah must find out of Mofitan can be trusted to help her or only himself.
