Electra o Elektra es una tragedia griega de Sófocles. Su fecha no se conoce, pero varias similitudes estilísticas con el Filoctetes (409 aC) y Edipo en Colono (401 aC), los estudiosos llevaría a suponer que fue escrito hacia el final de la carrera de Sófocles. Situado en la ciudad de Argos unos años después de la guerra de Troya, que se basa en torno al personaje de Electra, y la venganza que ella y su hermano Orestes asumir su madre Clitemnestra y Egisto padrastro por el asesinato de su padre, Agamenón.

Sophocles (born c. 496 bc, Colonus, near Athens [Greece]—died 406, Athens), (Greek: Σοφοκλής ; German editions: Sophokles , Russian: Софокл , French editions: Sophocle ) was an ancient Greek tragedy playwright. Not many things are known about his life other than that he was wealthy, well educated and wrote about one hundred and twenty three plays (of which few are extant). One of his best known plays is 'Oedipus the King' (Oedipus Rex).
