Macari has lived her entire life on the daemon plane sequestered from humans. Now her mother has given her an impossible task: cross to the human plane and spy on a woman she's seen only in visions. She must report her findings before the mark of Air fades from her hand or be banished from her home forever. Macari can walk the Corsaerie, a storm of Air magic that holds all of history in its grasp. But even this skill can't get her to the human plane without a little help from an ancient magical being obsessed with the past. She faces obstacles at every step of the journey, and must dig deep within herself to complete her mission and return home. Even if she succeeds, will her discoveries soothe her mother’s fears or merely fan the flames of a larger fire?
