Stories have a special place in our lives. There?'s something about a good story that sinks its hooks quickly and deeply into us and reels us in. The Old Testament tells many stories which form part of a bigger story, narrating God?'s dealings with the people of Israel through Abraham, Jacob, Moses, Joseph, Samuel, David, and many others. What all of them have in common is that, in one way or another, God is a central player in the action which unfolds. Sometimes he is there openly and obviously. Sometimes his presence is more ironic, hidden, and in need of interpretation. But obvious or not, God is always there somewhere in the pattern of things. In this book a theologian and a biblical scholar team up to provide some intelligent devotional reflections on God?'s presence in the ordinary lives of eleven Old Testament characters. From them we can learn how to find God in the midst of our own lives.
