
Floris M. Kleijne (a pen name of Floris Kleijne) was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where he began to write short stories as soon as he was able to hold a pen. After hundreds of Dutch stories, he switched over to the English language in 2003, promptly sold his first story in that language, and went on to win the acclaimed Writers of the Future contest with his third, the SF novelette Meeting the Sculptor (published in L. Ron Hubbard Presents: Writers of the Future 21 ). Since then he has sold about forty science fiction, fantasy, horror, and suspense stories to magazines across the globe, judged the Harland Awards (the Dutch equivalent of the Writers of the Future contest) twice, edited a Dutch anthology of speculative fiction ( Millennium ), and had his own Dutch translations of his award-winning stories Mashup and Meeting the Sculptor (as Ontmoeting met Vormgever published by Uitgeverij LINK. In 2020, his Dutch thriller career took off with the appearance of suspense/horror story Wiegelied in Veronica Magazine's lifestyle glossy The Guide. He's signed with the major Dutch publishing house Meulenhoff Boekerij, and his first novel, the thriller Klaverblad, is slated to appear in February of 2021. Kleijne lives in a centuries-old farm house in the Dutch river district, with a lovely wife, two cheerful sons, and thousands of books.
