Robert

A Forty Proof Novella

2023

\\This is Robert's story before he became the Robert you know in the Forty Proof Series.\\ In 1876, we were called to Savannah, Georgia to help with an infestation of demons. If we'd known what we, my wife Evangeline, and I, were walking into, we'd have run the other way. As it was, we shared tea with a vampire and stepped into a battle we did not understand until it was too late. On the night we arrived, Evangeline went missing, taken from our room. Now, in a strange city, filled with demons, and monsters, I must find her before those monsters make her one of their own. The only question that remains is one for you, dear reader. Are you brave enough to come with me on this journey, my friend? It is not for the weak of heart, but for those who believe that love is always strong enough...and that a kind soul or two can make all the difference in your life as you face the darkness. \\You can read this novella WITHOUT having read any of the other books in the Forty Proof Series. Robert's story continues in Midlife Bounty Hunter\\

Midlife Bounty Hunter

2020

A Paranormal Women's Fiction with a bit of class, and a lot of sass for anyone who feels like age is just a number! One day I’m married, living in Seattle, and magic isn’t real. The next, I’m divorced and living in the guest room of my ex’s hotter- than-sin cousin’s place in Savannah . . . and talking to an animated skeleton named Robert. I have to admit, Robert isn’t my worst date. At forty-one, I didn’t think I’d be starting over. But I’ll be damned if my ex thinks I’m down and out because he pulled a fast one on me. When a job comes my way that offers me a chance to use my childhood training in the shadow world, I take it—I need the money more than I care about my sanity. It’s dangerous. I have to embrace the magic and dark of my past. And I need Advil to keep me going. So those who’d hold me back better sit up and take notice, because a new woman is in town, and she’s not about to be counted out by anyone. Even if she does groan when she rolls out of bed in the morning.

Midlife Fairy Hunter

2020

A Paranormal Women’s Fiction with a bit of class, and a lot of sass for anyone over forty! Over the hill, all outta ducks to give, and suddenly life is looking up . . .even if you’re living with a ghost and fighting off werewolves. Moving back to Savannah changed my life in all the best ways. New job. New friends. As far from my ex-husband as possible. I didn’t count on the Shadow World intensifying its hold on my life. Color me surprised, when a new job lands in my lap watching over a fairy ring. Worth ten times what I’d make anywhere else, it seems too good to be true. I take it anyway. And that’s when things get weird. Spells are cast on my friends that seems to make them lose their marbles. I’ve got a Bigfoot baking in my kitchen. And a skeleton is quickly becoming my go-to guy. Which is silly because the eye candy strutting around in front of me is drool worthy. (I’m looking at you, Crash. Really looking 0\_0) Nothing in Savannah is what it seems, and the magic and undercurrents of this city are pulling me onto a dangerous path. But with a Fae Queen begging my help, and the darkness closing in, I can only do one thing. Pop a couple Advil, and kick some serious ducking butt.

Midlife Witch Hunter

Gran used to say that a strong woman looks a challenge in the eye and gives it a wink. To be sure, flirting with challenges is a terrible idea. Ask me how I know. All Bree really wants is to bury her head in the sand, somewhere in the south of France while a hot pool boy rubs lotion on her back. Instead, Bree gets blackmailed by the Council of Savannah into a job she doesn’t want—though it does take her to France. They need her to bring a witch back to Savannah for a trial that Bree is sure is a load of hooey. But not just any witch. The first one. The oldest one. The one who makes a t-rex look like he’s howling about a sore tooth. The one who makes the wicked witch of the west look like your sweet old nanny, the one who . . .well you get the picture. Bree’s job? Find her. Befriend her. And convince her to come back to Savannah for safekeeping. But someone else has gotten a head start, and their reasons for tracking down the miserable old witch are far worse than the council's reasons. None other than a sexy, growly blacksmith with pretty eyes who makes Bree’s panties melt even though she knows he isn’t for her. And he is looking for the same miserable old lady. Throw in a lovesick siren, and a slew of new problems, and you’ve got Bree’s next adventure busting at the seams. And no, it isn’t because her pants are too small.

Would you like an extra helping of hot flashes to go with that midlife crisis? Yeah, I thought not. And yet, here we are. Burning down buildings. You know, dating in your forties should be easier. Should be. But it really isn’t. My first date in I don’t-know-how-long is broken up by my ex-husband. I mean, he’s dead, but still. Then a cryptic note from a voodoo queen. A siren who can’t keep it in his pants. And a hot fae who seems to be everything I’ve ever wanted. Except that he’s not a certain blacksmith. I can deal, right? Once more I am up against the dark council, fighting to discover and hide ingredients to a spell that would mean destruction for not only Savannah, but the world. I know who I can trust. And I know who I can’t. Or so I think. With twisted spells afoot, hidden agendas and dark pathways, you’d think I’d be terrified. But I’m not, because I have my friends, and they have my back. And my back? I’ve got my Advil for that.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far away, I was born into a family of Star Wars nuts. I have a lot of siblings (somewhere I lost count but I think there was more than could be numbered on one hand) and being one of the young padawans I was subjected to Star Wars marathons, on a regular basis. If you've read any of my books you'll see there is often a reference to said movies as a small homage to my upbringing. May the force be with you and all that jazz. I started writing when I realized I didn't want to grow up not believing in magic, or not believing in creatures everyone else said didn't exist. That being said, I have never seen a fairy, unicorn or dragon. I had a neighbour who swore they fed the leprechauns in their garden, but I never caught the little buggers no matter how long I lay in wait. (And consequently had to help the neighbours plant new flowers to replace those I killed waiting for the leprechauns to show their faces.) Along the way, I found my husband who is the rock that keeps me from floating away into my dreams, and we have a little boy who is the centre of our world. Living on a farm keeps us busy (as if the writing wasn't enough) and I have more than my share of stories about wrestling with cows, helping birth calves and ending up in the creek during the process, falling in the mud (we'll call it mud but we all know that on a farm, mud is rarely mud) and chasing escaped livestock in the hopes the four legged convicts don't make it to the highway. I've taken up archery, and the goal is to move into horseback archery in time (you know, when I can hit the target on a consistent basis) and when no one is looking, I love to bake (this doesn't happen often as it's hard to keep the sweet treats in stock with two boys in the house.) As to what's coming next for me? More stories (since those never stop inside my head, I might as well share them with all of you!) and more adventures. Pretty much, when the fancy strikes, I'll jump on it. Leap before you look I'm sure that motto was created for me. Or was that . . . think big and dream bigger, ready, set, pull the trigger . . . yeah. That one is a good one too. But only if you have a gun. And are hunting elephants. Which is not cool because of so many reasons. Let's stick with the first one with an addendum. Leap before you look and let your dreams carry you on their wings. And that, my friends, is me in a nutshell.
