Part of Series

Evelyn Chambers is seventy-two, spry, savvy, and . . . a spy? She’s barely finished unpacking from her last international escapade when the CIA taps Evelyn for another “quick in-and-out” mission. This time, she’s off to snowy Russia. Her job? Pretending to be someone’s mother. Easy enough—unless your “daughter” is a spy, the prison guards are armed, and the tea might be laced with secrets. With a suitcase full of warm clothes, a burner phone, and nerves of steel, Evelyn dives headfirst into Moscow’s icy streets, where the Cold War may be over, but where trust is in short supply, and even small talk might be surveillance. As her mission grows more complicated, Evelyn starts to doubt everything, including the safety of the agent she’s supposed to help, just how closely she’s being watched, and how to explain this sudden trip to Roger—the charming gentleman back home who already had questions before she left. With danger lurking behind frosted windows and every turn leading deeper into mystery, Evelyn must use all her wits—and more courage than she thought she had—to get the job done.
