Working with high schoolers is hard, but harder still when they hide body parts under their beds. Nana’s responsibility in supervising magical teens who need to hide their supernatural nature from the rest of the Rijeka City will be tested to the breaking point, just like her headache, when an ungrateful task lands in her arms. She needs to discover who’s missing limbs found under the cypress trees, but also, what threats to her students lurk in the shadows. And it has to be done while ensuring that regular humans stay in the dark about the fact that creatures like štrigas, krsniks, and Slavic gods aren’t just a part of folklore. Of course, if those magical students don’t end up drawing each others’ blood first… or Nana defenestrates them. Secrets, lies, and deadly history come together in this dark urban fantasy novel with a spoonful of mystery and a pinch of horror, inspired by Croatian folk tales.
Author

Antonija Mežnarić is living and breathing speculative fiction. Sometimes she reads, sometimes she writes, but mostly she procrastinates. Besides that, she loves to hold lectures and quizzes on various topics at conventions, while in cosplay. In 2012 she got the Protosfera award for the best published speculative fiction story by a young author. If she had to pick favorite genres that would include: urban fantasy, supernatural horror and fairy tale retellings. Notable works include her sapphic horror comedy novella What do Nightmares Dream of and queer folk horror collection Mistress of Geese.
