The Ton is all a flutter wondering if he will soon be off the marriage market, but Georgette knows the truth. She is not his love. Both she and the duke have sworn never to love again. Instead, Miss Quinby has been helping Charles to catch a spy working against their beloved England. The Duke enlists Georgette’s help in a very illegal, but exciting rouse to occupy one man so that he may search his lodgings for evidence. The Duke dresses as a servant and meets her in the kitchen. It is all very improper and if the Ton should find out… well, we will just hope they don’t find out… At least, not until they catch the spy.

Book Three the the Georgette Quinby series, best read in order The Duke of Eversley’s attention to the Mad Heiress, Miss Georgette Quinby has made the Ton gossip. Unbeknownst to them he is only interested in catching a French spy, or is that really all he is interested in? He decides to beg off and leaves the ladies without an escort to the ball. After all, he is not courting the Mad Heiress, and he loves Blanche. He has always loved Blanche. Angry and hurt, Georgette contemplates staying home with a good book, but Fanny intervenes. Instead of attending the ball, Georgette and Fanny head to Vauxhall. Fate sends the spy her way, and Georgette finds herself in terrible danger, both from the spy and her breaking heart.
