One small mistake could cost you your life. A big one could cost the lives of many. Every first Harvest Moon of the year, when the veil between the living and the dead is most pliable, three generations of modern witches in the Syntyche coven pool their magic to commune with their ancient ancestors. This year, however, is different. On the day of the ritual, Kismet's mother and grandmother vanish without a trace, even the essence of their souls hidden and unreachable. Kismet knows what she has to do, she knows the risk of pushing the veil on her own. But what will it cost her? Her body? Her soul? Both? And what would it take to get those things back? It's a matter of life or death for not only Kismet, but the whole world. It's a race against a dozen different clocks and she has to find a way to right the wrongs she started, all while staying alive. And are witch hunters supposed to make the whole thing easier? Don't count on it.
