Here is a unique devotional book. Excerpts from the timeless messages of fifty-two spiritual giants have been carefully selected by Warren Wlersbe to cover a broad spectrum of Scripture passages and to provide insights into various areas of Christian life. The devotions from the master teacher-preacher are usually grouped around a theme. One week the reader can learn from Spurgeon, the next from Andrew Murray or D. L. Moody. There is a whole year of unusual devotional reading here. As the editor explains in the These selections are not typical devotional thoughts. I have deliberately chosen material that is meaty, that will make you think, and, in some cases, may make you disagree. I am sure the result will be spiritual and intellectual growth, it you are wing to face truth honestly. The selections span more than four hundred years of devotional writing, and are arranged so that a reader can use the book either as a daily devotional guide or as an anthology of devotional writings. The emphasis is on nineteenth- and twentyieth-century Protestant works, although a few Roman Catholic authors are included. Dr. Wiersbe provides a concise biographical sketch of each author. In addition, he includes a list of sources to aid those interested in reading more of a specific author's work. Giant Steps is a companion volume to Dr. Wiersbe's earlier books, Walking with the Giants and Listening to the Giants. Warren W. Wiersbe was formerly pastor of Moody Memorial Churth in Chicago, and now gives his time fully to writing and conference speaking. Among his other books are Songs in the Night and The Bumps Are What You Climb On.
