Part of Series

One more deadly romantic comedy. Meet Mitzi, Molly, and Marla, three sisters, southern-fried born-and-bred, and the ghosts who love them. Marla Newberry has no interest in dating someone local. She teaches middle school kids—and in the small town of Carrington, Louisiana, everyone, knows everything about everyone . Especially middle-schoolers. So, dating is out. But midnight runs to a biker bar in Shreveport are in. She's thirty-six, not sixty-six, for God's sake. She might not want to date a local man, but that doesn't mean she has to be celibate. Cooter Haines, drummer for a Grateful Dead tribute band called Skullheads that frequents the Shreveport bar, is the only guy who can curl her toes like a sprung guitar string. And while she enjoys surrendering to his toe-curling on occasion, she's not interested in bringing the long-haired drummer home to daddy. No. That would not do. So, one Saturday night, Marla sneaks off to Shreveport to enjoy Skullheads and learns that Cooter is AWOL. She's told a rival drummer made a deal with the devil (aka the Skullheads manager) who stole the drummer job away from Cooter. People at the bar say Cooter angrily sped off on his bike. Marla smells a rat. Cooter takes off for Killeen, Texas, where a Lynyrd Skynyrd cover band is playing, but wrecks his Harley just outside of Tyler, literally biting the dust. Face first. No helmet. Dead at the scene. Later, Marla wakes up to find a ghostly Cooter sitting at the foot of her bed. He doesn't want to go to the light. Dead isn't so great, he tells her, and those rumors about Southern Rock bands jamming in Heaven? He's seen no evidence so far. Plus, he's pretty sure someone jacked up something on his Harley making him roll the bike. He needs her help to him find out who. Marla must decide. Does she help Cooter find the bike-tinkerer so he can go to the light and find Southern Rock Band Heaven? Or, should she let his ghostly being hang around to keep her toes nice and curly?
