A brand new Western adventure from Charles Ray! When Tobias Lake steps off the stagecoach in Plata, life in the small mining town is turned upside down. A Union army veteran, Lake is seeking a Confederate cavalry officer he believes was involved in the massacre of Union troops during the war, and has information indicating he might live near Plata. Plata’s town marshal, Boone Collins, is sympathetic to Lake’s desire to avenge his fellow soldiers. However, he has a duty to enforce the law and can’t countenance murder, not even of someone who deserves to die. Boone faces a dilemma. How does he enforce the law while balancing the scales of justice?

I've been writing since my teens. In addition to writing for several newspapers and magazines in the US, Europe, Asia, and Africa, I've written two books on leadership and a number of fiction works. I'm also a published poet, photographer, and artist. I write in several genres, reflecting my broad reading tastes. I spent 20 years in the army, retiring in 1982 and becoming a diplomat. I've worked in about 10 countries and traveled to about 30 more, mining each for material to write about.
