Marquez ‘Killa’ Jones was the middle boy of four, raised by both parents. All that changed in the blink of an eye the night his father took his life. An unfortunate event resulted in Marquez becoming the man his mother leaned on to take care of not only her but his siblings as well. With only a high school education and no longer having a passion for anything other than making money, he took to the streets, and his girlfriend was ten toes down with him. Things didn’t go as planned, and though he and Iman didn’t last, they remained best friends, and he trusted her with his life. Over the years, however, Marquez wanted more for his kids and family than what hustling could provide. Some things aren’t as easy to let go of once you bring others into your world though, and Marquez becomes involved in situations he himself is not even aware of. Anijah Wilkins is what many consider a good girl with a bright future ahead of her. When her cousin, whom she loves as a brother, is killed in front of her in a nightclub, she vows that she will not become a victim to the streets, but the streets are embedded in her more than she cares to admit. Anijah and Marquez cross paths, and though she seems to be heaven sent for him, is he really what she needs? Is Iman willing to accept the fact that their relationship is just a friendship and allow Marquez to move on with his life? Find out in part one of His Heart Belongs to the Streets.
