Far away from human civilization, Maggie Quinn is working on a scientific project in the Arctic. She has no problem being all alone, until a frantic, rambling man shows up and tells her that the world has been overrun by a zombie apocalypse. Is the man crazy, or is the world truly in peril? Unable to contact anyone else, Maggie initially tells herself that there's no way zombies can be real. Once the strange man has left, she tries to focus once again on her work, but then she starts to notice strange things in the forest. Something is killing foxes, and mysterious tracks in the snow suggest that Maggie's no longer alone. Still unable to believe that zombies are real, she remains determined to stick to her work. And then, one day, a rotten, lumbering creature stumbles into view. Is the world really falling apart? Does a bite on her arm mean that Maggie herself is in danger of becoming a zombie? And what kind of evil lurks in the shadows at an abandoned farm?
