In the years following the war of northern aggression, Jackson Slade returned to his childhood home in New Mexico and found his family dead from an Apache raid. Shortly after burying their remains and riding on he too was attacked by a party of Apaches. And thus his many year war waged against the desert killers began. Now in the thirteenth year the raids are slowly coming to an end as he moves on from one thing to another, ever the tumble weed.
