In the years following the war of northern aggression, Jackson Slade returned to his childhood home in New Mexico and found his family dead from an Apache raid. Shortly after burying their remains and riding on he too was attacked by a party of Apaches. And thus his many year war waged against the desert killers began. Now in the thirteenth year the raids are slowly coming to an end as he moves on from one thing to another, ever the tumble weed.

Continuing the saga of Jackson Slade. A former officer in the Confederate Army who survived to return home to find his folks had long ago been wiped out by Apache raiders. Thus starts his life as the leader of a small detachment of the US Army cavalry who become the hunters of the Apache raiders. Along the way Slade find love and live a life of constant adventure
