My plans for the summer seemed to be falling apart. Originally, I was going to live outside Chicago, in peace and solitude, while I worked on launching my own business. But then a friend borrowed the money I had set aside for that and suddenly couldn’t pay me back. She came up with an alternate plan, one that involved me spending the summer at a family friend’s cabin in Arkansas. Even that looked like it wouldn’t work out until a handsome stranger miraculously got involved.
