I began writing stories practically as soon as I could hold a pencil. I started with fiction and plays (often inspired by Dr. Who) and a series of secret agent 'novels' influenced by The Avengers and The Man from Uncle, and continued writing throughout a series of jobs before returning to university to get an MA in Linguistics and Literature. I finally got to be a professional writer 20 years ago, freelancing for newspapers, magazines and businesses. I'm now a prize-winning playwright and short story writer (The Jo Cowell Award, Dark Tales, Lymm Festival, Sussex Radio Playwriting etc.), and my work has appeared in various publications on both sides of the Atlantic, including Dark Horizons, QWF, Time for Bedlam and AlienSkin. I'm also Writer in Residence at The Grid artists' studios. When I'm not writing I try to learn to ride (a horse and a bicycle, but not at the same time!), or I let my dogs take me for walks.
