Shamsul Amin is a Malaysian writer, editor, and creative services specialist. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Malay Linguistics and a Master’s in Malay Studies from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. Throughout his career, Shamsul has held influential roles in Malaysia's literary and publishing spheres. He began as an executive editor at Perbadanan Kota Buku (2016-2018), served as a digital content writer at Media Prima Berhad (2018-2019), and later became a publishing officer at Gerakbudaya (2019). He went on to work as the Brand Lead at Appear Asia, a content marketing agency, before taking on the role of Publishing Manager at The Biblio Press. Today, he operates independently as a writer and editor while managing his creative agency, Studio Tanda Bacha, and running the online bookstore, Buku Kacak. Shamsul’s writing journey began at the age of 13, and his works have since graced prominent Malaysian publications, including Dewan Sastera, Tunas Cipta, Dewan Siswa, BH Ahad, Utusan Malaysia, Dewan Budaya, Dewan Kosmik, and Utusan Melayu. His contributions to anthologies include titles like Sejalan Tak Seiring (Esastera Enterprise, 2007), Kunci Gerbang Masa (DBP, 2009), Menyirat Cinta Haqiqi (Insandi, 2011), Elegan (Legasi Oakheart, 2012), Cantuman Mimpi (ITBM, 2013), Siti Nurmalaysia (DBP, 2013), Bukan Dorman (Legasi Oakheart, 2014), and Wajah Kita (DBP, 2016). He received formal training in writing through Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka’s Minggu Penulis Remaja program in 2010. In 2013, he was chosen to join the Malaysia Young Writers' Retreat in the United Kingdom, hosted by the Institute of Translation & Books Malaysia (ITBM) and the National Writers Association of Malaysia (PENA). Shamsul’s achievements include the Pahang Chief Minister's Award (2008, 2012) and the ASEAN Young Writers Award in 2015, granted by ASEAN and the Thai government. In 2016, his English-translated short story, Clothed in Perada (Di Hamparan Perada), was long-listed for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize by the Commonwealth Foundation.
