La tranquilidad del pequeño pueblo francés de Beaufort se ve alterada por un hecho que, en principio, parece carecer de una explicación razonable. El granjero Henri Morillon ha encontrado muerta una de sus vacas en extrañas circunstancias: completamente desangrada. Algunos habitantes del pueblo, como el joven Jerôme, creen que la mansión Grisard guarda cierta relación con el suceso. El viejo caserón había permanecido deshabitado y abandonado durante muchos años, hasta que de repente se instala allí la bella y enigmática Isabelle, que regresa a la localidad que la vio nacer y de donde huyó tiempo atrás. El misterio que rodea a esta mujer despertará las sospechas de sus vecinos, y el gendarme del lugar, el joven Max, comienza a investigar.

Laura Gallego García is a Spanish author of fantasy and children's books. She studied Spanish Philology at the University of Valencia, and is currently working on her doctoral thesis. Her first novel, at the age of 21, was published because she won the Barco de Vapor literature prize and still is one of her most recognizable works: Finis Mundi. After that, her now stablished literary career began. Finis Mundi was followed, chronologically, by (only mentioning the ones that achieved notable popularity)the ''Crónicas de la Torre'' saga, ''The Legend of the Wandering King'', ''Memories of Idhún'' saga, ''La Emperatriz de los Etéreos'' and the ''Alas Negras'' saga. From all of them, her most popular and internationally recognized work has been the Memorias de Idhún saga. Formed by three books, written between 2004 and 2006, the story (pure fantasy genre) centers in the three main characters: Victoria, Jack and Christian; and the world of Idhún. Dragons, unicorns, magic, prophecies and everything your imagination can lead you to. The saga of Idhún and most of her works have been published to numerous languagues such as English, French, German, Italian, Hungarian, Greek, Portuguese, Corean, Polish, Swedish, Finish, Danish, Rumanian, Turkish... She loves manga comics. Her favourite book of all time is ''The Neverending Story'', though she enjoys reading as well authors such as Tolkien, Weis, Peter Beagle and Coehlo. Currently she combines being a mother and enjoying her family life with the realization of her thesis. She finished this year her last novel, ''Donde los árboles cantan'' (Where the trees sing), which will be published in October 2011.
