Forty years have gone by since the big war, which stopped Aster the Tyrant’s lust for conquest. But the Emerged World has not found their peace yet.
Dohor, a Dragon’s Knight that has become the Lord of the Kingdom of the Sun, is slowly extending his influence on the rest of the Emerged World by winning the resistance of those few men that still fight against him.
But Dohor is not the only one who aspires to the power. The mysterious Murderers’ Guild, whose members are ready to commit every kind of murder, brought back Aster’s terrible bloody cult.
The Guild looks for murderers and warriors everywhere in the world, in order to carry out its obscure plans. One of these terrible people is seventeen-year-old Dubhe that is the most skillful thief in the entire Kingdom, able to creep like a shadow into the most protected houses and to steal what’s most precious inside them. The Guild says Dubhe is a Death Girl, a human being with the obscure gift for killing, although she swore she’d never kill anyone after the terrible accident that made her a homeless orphan. After escaping from the Murderers’ Guild and, before that, from the fate of Death Child, young warrior Dubhe must free herself from the curse that was invoked on her. The only one that can save her is Sennar, the most powerful wizard of all, Nihal’s companion and accomplice, the heroine about whom legendary tales are told, to whom statues in town squares are dedicated. Meanwhile, the bloodthirsty Guild has at last last discovered how to bring Thenaar, the black god, back to life. All that’s needed now is a human sacrifice – a body in which the reincarnation of the god may take form. The chosen one is San, nephew of Sennar and Nihal. Ido the gnome protects San from the clutches of the wild Guild, while Dubhe must face Rekla, Guardian of Poisons and the most powerful among her enemies. It was Rekla who conjured up the curse, though she was later humiliated by her victim’s escape.

Dubhe and Theana are marching towards the Royal Palace of the Land of the Sun to kill Dohor, the corrupt tyrant who has joined forces with the Murderers’ Guild. Dohor’s troops capture Dubhe and Theana. They are sold as slaves to Learco, Dohor’s son, who brings them to court with him. On the way to Makrat, Dubhe and Learco become acquainted and fall in love. The time is ripe for the murder of Dohor – even Learco is ready to disavow his father. With the help of a handful of court nobles, Dubhe, Theana and he together come up with a plan to get rid of Dohor, but they are found out and imprisoned. The Council of the Emerged World meets and decides to launch a decisive attack against the Murderers’ Guild and Dohor’s army. Dubhe must push her destiny, her mission and her love as far as they will go. A new kingdom will rise out of the destruction of war, and a new man will take the throne.
