The Curse of the Umbrella

2006

The great talent behind the new generation in Europe, the Dungeon series, A.L.I.E.E.E.N. and Mr. O, pours his heart out in funny snippets of everyday life. His paranoia, little annoyances, big annoyances, chase of rainbows, love of comics, travel impressions from around the world, dealing with kids, being a kid: it’s all about life as we know it. A collection from his comics blog that expands his palette with full color painting, one can only be awed at Trondheim’s uncanny sense of observation and relate to all his experiences closely. Another touch of genius by one of today’s best and most influential comic artists.

Uneasy Happiness

Trondheim’s comics blog’s next collection of his popular musings on the every day ironies of life, his little anxieties, funny observations while on travel, his way of finding some cloud over the brightest sunshine, his obsessive hypochondria and other oh-so-easy-to-relate-to nerdy preoccupations. As he says himself, it’s whole lotta not much. And people are lovin’ it.

My Shadow in the Distance

2009

Collected from a popular comic blog and expanded with full color paintings, the vignettes featured in this series offer funny snippets from everyday life. Each autobiographical sketch showcases a facet of daily life through the persona of the creator’s alter-ego—from paranoia and daily annoyances, both big and small, to his love of comics and travel impressions from around the world. Offering an uncanny sense of observation related to personal experience, this collection from one of today’s most influential comic artists is all about dealing with the trappings of daily life. In this next collection of highly perceptive and self-mocking little observations, Trondheim looks for cowboys in our not-so Wild West, experiences severe nose problems in Prague, has an outrageous discovery in a bathroom of Freiburg, and pulls his first white hair off his chest . . . without knowing why. From the ridiculously mundane to the sublimely ridiculous, Trondheim doesn't miss a beat!
