Betrayed by the crooked locals of Soapy Wells, Deputy Marshal Long must escape through with a fugitive who thinks the only good deputy marshal is a dead one. Two heads are better than one, especially when both have a price on them. At least that's how they figure it down in the dusty border town of Soapy Wells. Deputy Marshal Long has come to collect a prisoner only to discover the crooked locals have decided they can get a better deal for both men south of the border. With both the Mexican Army and the ruthless Rurales in hot pursuit, Longarm has only one route of escape: a forbidding stretch of desert called the devil's highway. And he has only one ally - a desparate fugitive who may cut his throat once his back is turned!
