A small-town nurse aches to serve her country. A soldier returns from war, seeking direction. Could one decision be life-changing for them both? A nervous Maggie Winters prepares to perform an original song during the Memorial Day celebration in Riverton, Wisconsin. A nurse drawn to what the Red Cross is accomplishing overseas, she’s accepted that her small rural town needs her. She can only hope that music will somehow ease the hearts of families who have lost loved ones in battle or are waiting for news from those still fighting on the front lines in Europe. Raymond Connor, a soldier who sustained a permanent injury on the battlefield, visits Riverton with the intention of staying only long enough to mend a family rift with his uncle. World War I is exploding across the ocean, but when sparks ignite between Maggie and Ray, will they discover another way to serve their country—but this time, together?
