Margaret was a University of Montana student prior to her marriage to Dr. Richard Ross in l942. During the early years of her marriage, she lived throughout the West, and in 1951, she returned to Montana and resided in Butte with her three young sons. She married Franklin A. Scariano, the manager of Butte GMAC, on September 3, 1954. Throughout their married life they lived primarily in northern California. Mrs. Scariano finished her B.A. at Fresno State and received a master's degree in English from Illinois State University. She taught "Writing to Sell" at Indian Valley College in Novato, Calif. Margaret Scariano published over 18 books for a variety of age levels, including high-action novels for teenage readers with lower reading levels, young adult non-fiction books, a young adult romance novel, an adult gothic romance novel and "Emergence: Labeled Autistic with Temple Grandin," which was one of the books on which the HBO movie "The Temple Grandin Story" was based. While in California she was active in the Friends of the Library and the Redwood Writers Club as well as PEO. In recent years she lived in Mill Creek, Wash., as well as in Missoula. She continued her love of reading and writing into her later years and thoroughly enjoyed her book club in Missoula.
