Mavis Anne Bryant is a published journalist, photographer, poet, and author of local history books on Denison, Texas. She was a news reporter for the San Antonio (TX) Express and News, and acquiring editor at the University of Tennessee Press. Dr. Bryant has been a Fulbright Fellow in Spain and researched agricultural interest groups in Guatemala. She holds several degrees: Ph.D. in clinical psychology (Univ. of Tennessee at Knoxville), M.A. in Latin American Studies (Univ. of Texas at Austin), and B.A. (Stanford University). She lives in Austin, Texas.
