เกิดกรุงเทพฯ 4 สิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2505 ในครอบครัวชนชั้นกลาง มีคุณแม่เป็นครูสอนเปียโน และมีพี่ชายหนึ่งคน ความฝันวัยเด็กคืออยากเป็นนักร้องลูกทุ่ง เคยเรียนด้านเลขานุการ และไปเรียนด้าน Communication Arts ที่กรุงเมลเบิร์น ประเทศออสเตรเลีย กลับมาทำงานนิตยสารเกย์ชื่อ ‘นีออน’ เป็นครีเอทีฟเอเจนซี่โฆษณา ทำนิตยสารแฟชั่นชื่อ ‘Hyper’ และเปิดร้ายขายสร้อยอยู่ช่วงหนึ่ง ควบคู่กับการเลี้ยงลูกชายหนึ่งคน ก่อนจะกลับมาเขียนนวนิยายทเต็มตัว นวนิยายเรื่องแรก ‘ไส้เดือนตาบอดในเขาวงกต’ ชนะรางวัลซีไรต์ประจำปี 2558 และเรื่องต่อมา ‘พุทธศักราชอัสดงกับทรงจำของทรงจำของแมวกุหลาบดำ’ ได้รับรางวัลซีไรต์สาขานวนิยาย ประจำปี 2561 ปัจจุบัน วีรพรใช้ชีวิตอยู่กับสามีที่กรุงเทพฯ ส่วนลูกชายเรียนปริญญาเอกด้านปรัชญาอยู่ที่กรุงเบอร์ลิน เยอรมนี
