
Mina Witteman is the author of the Boreas series of which the first book, Boreas en de zeven zeeën, was published in 2015. The book was elected core title for the 2019 Dutch National Children's Book Week by the CPNB, the Foundation for the Collective Promotion of the Dutch Book. Witteman is winner in the Category Children's/Young Adult of the 2019 San Francisco Writing Contest of the San Francisco Writers Foundation with an excerpt of her YA novel Passing Strange . The second volume of the Boreas series, Boreas en de duizend eilanden, appeared in 2016. Boreas en de vier windstreken was published in 2017, followed by the final book in te series Boreas en de vijftien vrienden, which hit the shelves in 2018. Witteman debuted in 2005 with the middle grade novel De wraak van Deedee . She has published a Little Golden Book, Mia's nest, and about 40 short stories for children, published in Bobo Magazine, and in the famous read-aloud anthologies of her publisher Ploegsma Children's Books, like 'De koekjesdief' (In: Ridders, dino's en piraten ), 'Opa is de weg kwijt' (In: Het grote opa- en omaboek ), 'De erwtjes van Epke' (In: Het pi-pa-peuterboek ), 'Raceauto!' (In: Papa is een held! ), 'Het kerstdiner' (In: Kerstverhalen ) Her flash fiction story 'Niet anders' was published in the anthology 220W - A.L. Snijdersprijzen 2012 as the editor's choice.
